I noticed from a previous post that the drives are showing up as GENERICTAPE
and not LTO. Did you create an LTO deviceclass? This could be the problem.
There are no LTO devices in your library. Make sure that the TSM SCSI driver
(ADSMSCSI) is controlling the autochanger and drives and not using the
Windows drivers that came with the library. Even though the device
information screen in the TSM Driver section of the MMC plugin is showing as
LTO, TSM is recognizing them as GENERICTAPE. I also had to get a patch of
the ADSMSCSI driver from TSM level-2 to make these work on a PowerVault 136T
library. Maybe this 'fix' is in the 4.2.1.11 patch level. There is a table
in the TSM Administrators Guide about choosing either the TSM SCSI driver or
native drivers. Unless you're using RSM, and I see you're NT so that's out,
the only library that has native drivers is the IBM3494 with Magstar drives.
Just about everything else should be controlled by the TSM SCSI driver.

Give that a shot. Delete your drives from TSM and change the TSM Driver
properties to control the library and drives. You should now have the
MTx.x.x.x device names.

And also remember this is just my $.02 worth...

The only successful operation is labeling tapes, nothing else

^srpur,

If you have only two tape drives then you probably want your storage pool to
only reference one else you would use both of your tape drives for
migration...

Can you get a successful TSM database backup or any other operation to use a
tape drive?

Check your node setting, is the mountlimit set to two?

Hello,

Was migration possible prior to upgrading?

Its not clear from you description if you actually have 2 available drives.

Check your drives and make certain you are not retaining a cleaning tape in
one drive.

Hi y4all

I am installing TSM 4.2.1.9 on Win NT, I have a Dell PowerVault 128T
library.

My problem is that when migrating from disk to tape I get this right away,
ANR0984I Process 28 for MIGRATION started in the BACKGROUND at 23:20:49.
ANR1000I Migration process 28 started for storage pool DISKPOOL. ANR1134W
Migration terminated for storage pool DISKPOOL - insufficient number of
mount points available for removable media. ANR0985I Process 28 for
MIGRATION running in the BACKGROUND completed with completion state FAILURE
at 23:20:49. ANR1002I Migration for storage pool DISKPOOL will be retried in
60 seconds. ANR1003I Migration retry delay ended; checking migration status
for storage pool DISKPOOL.

However im able to label and checkin volumes without any problems

I have changed the mount limit from drives to 2 (update dev ltoclass1
libr=lb0.0.0.2 devtype=lto mountlimit=2). That changed nothing

My feeling is that im overlooking somthing in the config of the library or
drives

I also have a newer version of firmware then the one tested with TSM.

Would changing OS4s do anything, go to W2K?

Best regards
