And why are they? I've opened several times bugs with Sun, signalling that their tool were very slow when used in an UTF-8 locale (the recommended locale for years). It was several orders of magnitude slower, on a given test, milliseconds in C, seconds in UTF-8. And they've been closed as ?Not a defect? because the POSIX standard doesn't say anything for UTF-8, so Sun doesn't care if it's slow or not. So now, after years of doing nothing, Sun decides to use GNU tools, where that kind of bugs has been addressed, because they're faster? What a strange kind of logic...
