This ambiguity in the connotations of 'real' is exactly why I say the word
should abandoned in philosophy discussions. You, Derek, want to use it to
label
notions that are vivid and seizing, like fear, joy, moving memories. You say
they are "real" to you. You're entitled to use the word that way, and I
understand why you do it. But I can't get you to see you can convey what is on
your
mind without obliterating the distinctions between notional and non-notional,
fiction and non-fiction.
