Er.. I don't think you are reading my posts, Chris. What have I said
about judging whether works are art or not?

By the way, this whole things about wordless thoughts is getting quite
out of hand. I didn't undertake to give a running commentary of my -
or anyone's - mental life. I made a specific philosophical
(philosophical, not introspective) point: there are no thoughts
without words to embody them. So far I have heard no *philosophical*
argument to contradict that. Asking me 'what I thought' when I was
looking at an exhibition - or playing chess, taking a shower, brushing
my teeth, or whatever - is simply silly. What would it prove one way
or the other?

Given your repeated claims that one must have standards, criteria,
etc, and your repeated insistence that I say what mine are (despite
all I have said on the subject) this reply is, I have to say, a trifle
disappointing. It looks, dare I say, a little 'evasive'.
