About Cheerskep last post: "And where have you been for the last month?"
- working, and you ? "The neurology that has been championed on the forum" Championed? Sorry, I'm not sure I've seen such thing. Certainly not by you, or Geoff. Must have been blind or stupid for the last "month" - as you seem to think.. Must be my lack of mental acuity again, my arrogance, my whatever you want to name it.. "But what really has moved me to write this posting is your tone toward Geoff. It is a combination of sarcasm and condescension that is particularly odious when it comes from one who clearly lacks worthy mental acuity and yet who smugly believes he has it.. " - ouch ! bad stomach day? talking about ad hominem accusation. Well, at least you have been moved (jeez my sarcasm again!) . So get to the point and no more comments on comments; tell us where and what is your first hand knowledge on the subject? When was the last time you study visual processing on a live brain? How many hours have you spent in a brain lab? What is your first hand knowledge on neurones involved in an aesthetic experience? So, are you in a position to question other people "understanding" ?. No posing please: no false humility. Just let us know. William sayed it clearly; he is a layman. He got sarcasm from Geoff. You seem to know better then anyone else on this forum and you say it loud. Great. Congratulations. But in this case I don't buy it, sorry. You can manipulate the language the way you want and be successful at it but give us facts about your personal experience. I see what I see and I know what I know based on daily real life situations; I do not pretend knowing or seeing what I don't. And I do not see everything nor know everything. And I am certainly not in the business of trying to convince people, not you, not Geoff, not anybody... By the way Geoff, my intention was not to offend you as C. seems to think (because he knows it for afact). So Cheerpskep, unless you come up with real facts you personally witnessed and studied about neuroaesthetics, take it easy, relax ok? There is no tempest here. The rest is simply words, even if you are good with them, they remain words. But then, why not look at the neurones of reading? Luc P.S: You know the French saying: "If the people who say bad things about me knew what I am thinking about them, they would say even worse things about me." ----- Original Message ---- From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, December 20, 2008 1:09:05 PM Subject: Re: Geoff, Neurology and "Art" In a message dated 12/20/08 12:46:55 PM, [email protected] writes: > Luc to Geoff: > Where have you been in the last 20 years? > And where you have you been for the last month? The neurology that has been championed on the forum has been based on the assumption that examining brain tissue material will yield useful and enlightening things about the creation and appreciation of "art". (And about how "consciousness" -- which some of us persist in considering a non-material entity -- can "arise from" that neural tissue.) Geoff and I have posted extensive messages detailing why we say we haven't seen evidence of neurology's having achieved anything like this. (E.g. my posting on Zeki.) Either you haven't read those postings, or you've read them with nothing like what I'd call "understanding". But what really has moved me to write this posting is your tone toward Geoff. It is a combination of sarcasm and condescension that is particularly odious when it comes from one who clearly lacks worthy mental acuity and yet who smugly believes he has it.. ************** One site keeps you connected to all your email: AOL Mail, Gmail, and Yahoo Mail.
