I also don't agree with Michael.   There are a lot of people out there who 
make things they call art and who call themselves artists and who are 
missing the mark on both counts however good or pure the intentions they mean 
to 
have. The opinion of the audience as to whether somnething is or is not art 
is not trustworthy either,Conger is right, Michelangelo's work remained art 
whether the audience deemed it such or not.   The reasons these two groups 
do what they do are in some cases constrained by their social and cultural 
frameworks,but the social and cultural frameworks are separate from the 
success of the work.
