There were more new forms of pictures in the 17thc than there were in the 
16cth or the 18thc- you count them to find out.(And in case you wonder I've 
been reading Stechow again who only thinks about composition.) The question 
was oringinally why was there less innvation in the 18thc than in the 17thc. 
New picture ideas don't fly without a market ,there was less money in the 
18thc. The original question was the connection between money and art & artsy6 
found some old saws   about how art was above money & we shouldn't consider 
both in the same breath. As for innovation being a problem   probably 
people get bored and lack of innovation may point to other problems.
