I would probably second that opinion. I needed to do a dirt simple bit of video editing and installed Lightworks, which I think is one of the most popular editors for Youtube videos. I did not find it all that intuitive, but I was also not familiar with most of the jargon, and had never done it before. It might have been fine if I could devote more time to figuring it out, but I wasn't in a position to devote the time.

I think that Ken meant "like Audacity, except for video instead of audio".You can try OpenShot video editor, but if you want to release this to the public and influence opinion, it may be easier to pay a local media student some cash to do a snazzy job instead of spending your efforts to do a very basic video that may obscure the message.

Regarding software, I tried Cyberlink PowerDirector to edit my dad’s 16mm home movies that I had transferred to digital. Kind of like Audacity for video. I didn’t find it very intuitive and I kind of stumbled around, but of course I didn’t read the manual or watch any tutorials. I also have no experience with video editing. So you might fare better.
Looks like I paid $80 for the Ultra version lifetime license, they also have subscriptions. Also the website says something about a 25% promo discount on the latest version 19 ending tomorrow.
I know there’s a whole religious argument out there about how dare you do video editing on any platform other than a Mac.
