There was an individual who would try to sell you the info about the POKE command for a few hundred dollars. There was also at least one surplus equipment vendor who would sell you AP’s that were converted SM’s.
I imagine PEEK and POKE were useful for debugging, but probably should not have been available to the operator. The temptation to use it was apparently too great. It wasn't hard to get, I wasn't a programmer and I had discovered it after a few days of SM and AP memory dumping through scripts and telnet PEEKs, looking at diffs and fiddling around with POKE commands. Then I mentioned it to Mr. H from down under and he had a more reliable POKE address that survived config changes better IIRC. That was like 10 years ago, afterwards I didn't really keep note of the final commands / "cheat code" as you call it but it was an educational challenge. Gave up on trying to do an update directly on the unit. Just set th AP to auto-update and it took care of it for me. -- Best regards, Mark mailto:m...@mailmt.com <mailto:m...@mailmt.com> Myakka Communications www.Myakka.com <http://www.Myakka.com> ------ Monday, October 17, 2022, 2:14:50 PM, you wrote: BP> IIRC, CNUT not only uses the SNMP community string, but it also needs to login to the SM.
