Would anyone be willing to buy something like this in a kit form? I was
looking to do this as well and the volume wasn't there. It's not like a
stinger or a sitemonitor where you need one at each location. You only need
one per installer max, so it will either be overly expensive or very limited in
scope.

I'm willing to put my existing PCB on line under the open hardware license for
anyone to use and alter to suit their needs, if everyone put their enhancements
on as well, then in fairly short order, we could have a very nice tool
available at a very reasonable price and without too much R&D cost upfront or a
need for a single vendor/mfgr to worry about ROI.

You would just need someone with some soldering experience to put them
together. Maybe a few enterprising individuals could assemble some boards and
sell them at a slight premium.

I'm still looking for a rugged portable rechargeable power supply with a built
in speaker and wifi AP for the installers to use to power and aim CPE.

We cobble stuff up with rechargeable flashlights and electrical tape.  It's not
pretty.   I would buy multiple units if the price is <$200.
