I don't disagree with your sentiment, but cable companies are offering stupid-fast plans now thanks to Google Fiber in more and more markets. Comcast is doubling speeds for free in some of their markets now. I doubt WISPs will ever win over the average residential customer who is eligible for cable and knows it (unless they're leaving on principle or something like that).
