Yeah, we’re only using them for a radius of less than 1 mile, and usually with
a CPE right at the repeater site, so the smaller antenna with more downtilt
seemed appropriate. I question whether that’s really a 10 dBi antenna though,
the range has been disappointing.

I have been trying to use Rockets in U-NII-1 with the Ubiquiti 10 dBi omni,
but the range is really poor plus I’m tired of waiting for the SOON firmware
for the Beams. I also see home routers now coming preset to use channels 36-48
by default (which makes sense), so U-NII-1 may not stay quiet in town.

wondering if these bigger, more expensive omnis deliver better performance.
11 dBi isn't much if you can lose 3-5 dB at certain azimuths, another few
dB depending on frequency, and another 3 dB at zero elevation due to 4 degrees
electrical downtilt with an 8 degree beamwidth.
For $600+ and 6 inches diameter, I'd expect it to wash and wax my car.
