I would have used to describe the layers of this onion in terms of topological computational efficiency strata, reconfiguration, auto-configuration,.. etc. But lately my consciousness/intelligence ratio meter on AGI has gone way up so I would look at them in terms of conscious awareness. Electro-logical AGI might insert itself into many layers simultaneously being a distributed and multiplexing entity. As for people utilitarianistically occupying many layers is challenging but being conscious of them easier perhaps so Mohammad is a good example or a Meher Baba like consciousness.
A conscious awareness might not always though precede an intelligence layer transgression in the onion. An intelligence might outgrow layers with consciousness following. But many of these layers are merely based on perspective where some layers are very real and some artificial. But if the AGI were a truly trans-dimensional being it could choose what computational topology to inject itself into perhaps avoiding an external conscious awareness of that particular layer 😊 So in the boardroom of that Vatican ET bribeocrat/oligarch meeting the AGI could just trans-dimensionally materialize and start interacting immediately getting results without being too emotionally involved… If you can think of it it exists. If it exists you can think of it. But wait – science fiction in general usually leads science. What happens when science fiction more often lags science or completely falls behind? Does it take on qualities of religion? Aspects of religion in the past were like science fiction now. Conclusion: Layers transmute sometimes relieving transdimensionalization pressure… so it’s more like cabbage than onion.
