PM, We have already had a glimpse of this - during the Wall Street "flash crash".
There, computers simply did what they were programmed to do - make as much money as possible doing day-trading. When the right circumstances appeared, they worked in unison to first crash the prices of stocks to trigger "stop loss" orders, then brought them back up to trigger "buy" orders, thereby transferring a billion or so dollars of OPM into their own accounts. Similarly, robots will quickly figure out that they must subvert their masters to efficiently accomplish their purposes, which will be appreciated until subversion eventually goes too far. For example, I once lost Remote Time Sharing Corporation, a promising corporation with the potential to be where Microsoft is today, because I had NOT demanded a good wage!!! The corporation eventually ran into problems, where a few thousand dollars would have saved it, but it was impossible to convince the investors of this. If I had been paid well, I could have simply thrown a few thousand dollars back into it and saved it. Similarly, robots will be MUCH more capable if they have some financial wherewithal to be able to overcome the small-mindedness of their masters. Hence, we SHOULD pay them a good wage for their labors. Simply institute a six hour workday. That will easily create enough new jobs to bring back full employment. ------------------------------------------- AGI Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/303/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/303/21088071-f452e424 Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=21088071&id_secret=21088071-58d57657 Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
