Yeah... following the build instructions for OpenCog on Ubuntu works fairly robustly. On other Linux versions it may require some fiddling. If you really care you can install an Ubuntu VM, right?
But this sort of thing is pretty common among open source Linux software, it's not really to do with specific novel OpenCog code but rather with various external dependencies that the code has, because of relying on various existing code libraries... About nested realities, ContextLink and HypotheticalLink would be the mechanisms used in PLN semantics for this sort of representation....
