Ben:What do you think the mushrooming of Cognitive Science during the last
decade has been?  Science does recognize thought as a critical area
of study.  It's just a difficult thing to study.

That's what they said about consciousness. Consciousness became a serious area of study largely because of Crick's article in 1991/2 which pointed out that the refusal up till then to study consciousness was "ridiculous." The refusal to study thought is equally ridiculous today. To point out science's failure here is in no way "silly" as you suggest. Shakespeare and thousands of other artists did not give up because they found studying inner monologues "difficult." (Ahhh!)

Whether a surge of study of Thought will lead to improved BCI has certainly to be a matter of v. differing opinion.
