Have you considered looking into the social dynamics allowed by apt-get before? It's a complex system, people can fork it or patch it, and it's resulted in the software running the backbone of the internet. On the extropian mailing list the other day I mentioned I have a linux live cd for "building brains", I call it "mind on a disc", but unfortunately I'm strapped for time and can only give a partial download.
