Hi All, Well, for now, I’ve taken care of the gfx.wad issue (mentioned below) by simply placing the contents of the AudioQuake+LDL_2021.0_Windows folder into a folder simply called Quake.
Yes, I know it’s hacky :) but for now, I just want to work on getting a server going so getting this running the quick and dirty way is just fine with me! lol! :) This leads me to my questions. When I try to start a server, it is requiring me to have the paid version of Quake. I apparently need the pak 0 and 1 files. Back in the day, we could simply run a server using shareware Quake which only had pak 0. Is there a way (short of hacking the launcher) to make this happen again? I know I can run zqds by itself but that leads to a whole host of other configurations that I just don’t want to be involved with just at the minute. The launcher apparently sets this up nicely in the current folder structure so I’d like to take advantage of that rather than reinvent the wheel. :) My second question is about the paid version of Quake in regard to a server, specifically. I have no problem purchasing Quake if necessary, but if I do, then will folks connecting to a server need to also have the paid version installed as well? Hope these questions make sense and any help would truly be appreciated! :) Hope everyone is having a wonderful day and talk soon! Cheers!
