Dear friend, It is most advised that you may select a linux accessible scanner so that you shall be able to read ordinary printed books using lios linux intellegent ocr solution. An excellent ocr solution for many languages including malayalam hindi tamil gujarathi etc is availablle in ubuntu latest.cannon lide 220 is one such scanner. Thanking you. sathyan
