Hi friends, Sorry for very late reply. I don’t know whether any one is interested in this thread now. But, I am writing this in the hope that it may be useful to someone.
I purchased cannon mf4820d combo scanner. The runner up was cannon MF 3010. 4820d costed rupees 14000. I chose combo because I wanted to use printer as well occasionally. This scanner features scan, print, copy features with duplex print facility. The scan speed is from 6 to 10 pages per minute. As Mohib said, it is bit bulky compared to stand alone scanners. But, anyway scanners are rare to get repaired. It is quite accessible through via and twine interfaces. I normally use Kurzwail to scan. It has some buttons in the front panel and a display with backlight which a highly partially blind person can see. I did not go to HP because similar model (m1005) was bulkier than cannon model and its display did not have backlight. Also, HP models are bit costlier compared to cannon. To sampath raj rao’s opinion, yes sir, mf toolbox is not very much accessible. But I think we can make it accessible by writing jaws scripts for it. Please tell me which part of it is inaccessible so that we can work on it. Generally laser prints are hot. But I am unable to judge on it without knowing how hot it was after your tenth print out. @ Sath Linux, Can you elaborate on this sir, which are the languages supported by that OCR? How is the quality of that OCR, etc?
