yes thats also true more or less.but the whole thing is the could have been
game.hey if ford had moved to italy the ford execs could have thrown there
ugli banal standard ties away and put on silk white ones.that would have been
a perk.also let there hair a bit longer.think i've gone far enough with this.

My understanding is Ford wasn't exactly buying Alfa for its cars but for its
plants. Also, there was a former FIAT manager that had recently moved to Ford
so that made it personal. The last thing FIAT wanted was a mass producer like
Ford in its backyard.

As for Ford buying Alfa? Who knows. Alfa could have ended up like Jaguar,
and
use Ford's platforms and engines. Maybe it would have ended up like Ford's
purchase of Ghia. Just a name used on higher end models. Lets not forgot the
large difference in Ford's offer for Jaguar compared to Alfa.

going on to the game it could have been.when ford bought jaguar after
being rebuffed by fiat.they poured a hell of a lot of money into the jag
product.well fiat couldnt stand having alfa being bought by america.you know
sometimes the italians can act like the french.but in the process of keeping
alfa out of unholy hands they've killed it off.as long as the home country
killed her its all right.once more i say what a pity.but philosophicly
speaking it may not be the space time in this place for such as alfa was.

Two things have led to the demise of Alfa.

          1- The Italian Government.

The Italian's government decision to increase employment by Alfa
producing cheap cars that competed with FIAT in the early 70s. They may even
be responsible for the rusty metal, problem depending on what you read.

2- Anything designed under Rudolf Hruska.

The Alfetta and Alfa Sud pretty much destroyed Alfa's reputation in
the 70's.

          The ARNA didn't help either!

In 1986 even BMW ran away from buying Alfa because there was
nothing. These are the same people who later bought Rover.

Also, Alfa was going front wheel drive before FIAT's purchase. The
164 was designed prior to the acquisition of FIAT. Lets not forget the Sud
was
front wheel drive also.
