That's pretty handy, but I have an aluminum tool (design courtesy of Mark Denovich, IIRC) that does essentially the same thing by lining up with the three bolts that pass through the cam pulleys.

Joe you need to verify cam timing by using this template
_http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/attachments/164-168-1991-1995/66906d1179330802-cam-timing-cam-
timing.pdf_
(http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/attachments/164-168-1991-1995/66906d1179330802-cam-timing-cam-timing.pdf) and do a compression check. It
sounds like your timing belt has jumped time and you may have bent a
valve. Set your crank pulley at Top Dead Center "P" mark by turning engine
clockwise as viewed from front of car.

Check us out over here _www.alfaBB.com_ (http://www.alfaBB.com) under
Alfa 164. The timing template link and other info for V6 engines in my 164
maintenance sticky.
