Hey.
Yes, audacity is a multitrack editor. Your main work area is a project, not 
just a sound file, and you can work with multiple objects within the project. 
That is something a little  closer to Reaper in theory than to Goldwave. But I 
don't think Audacity can handle vst instruments or has a midi sequencer or 
anything like that.
