I support applying this patch on the basis of consistency, especially if it
emulates the GTK+ code in HighContrast and HighContrastInverse themes. 
(Michael, you may wish to check the HighContrast gtk-engire for this).  The
biggest accessibility issue with visibility of the "disabled" components has
arised in the HighContrast themes.  If this patch works equivalently to the
HighContrast gtk+ engine and looks consistent with the base gtk+ engine, I think
it should be applied (at least when using the gtk+ look).
