Perhaps the most interesting contrasts are: industrial old vs. new - this shows what happens with the old algorithm when you have more than a 1bit alpha channel: the images get horribly blured. Of course the new algorithm retains some color - so, you get a better albeit de-saturated & pixelated image too.
