and what's wrong with
- option to choose wether automatically restore editing position;
- shortcut key for those who want restoring only ocasionally.

in this scenario everybody is happy - this option would be turned off by
default
and only those who want this functionality would enable it.

it's been argued in this issue a lot that most people don't read long documents
onscreen, they print them out; usually creating/editing the document requires
more work and iterations of opening/closing than just reading it; that there
already is a shortcut to go to the beginning of the document (and most people
already know what ctrl+home would do).

it feels like these arguments are just ignored without even an attempt to
disprove them.

i feel so disappointed that i would have tried to see into this myself already
-
if only i'd knew how to code. as i do not, i can only try to reasonably justify
my view. and i really believe that oo.org will lose by removing this
functionality.
