Hi everbody,
i have the same problem with my cmipci-card(the noise is also not, when
playing sound from line-in).
I fond out that alsa 0.9.2 does no work with the sym53c8xx scsi-driver(that`s
my card). If the sym53c8xx-module is not loaded there is no problem.
I'm using kernel 2.4.21-pre6 and alsa 0.9.2.
I hope lspci will help the helpers a little bit.

I recently upgraded to a new kernel and had to create some new ALSA drivers
along with it, so I downloaded version 0.9.2 of ALSA. However, these new
drivers produce a crackling noise when playing PCM sounds (most computer
sounds, including XMMS, but CDs play fine). I am using the VIA 8235
Southbridge integrated audio chipset. I was wondering if there was a patch
or a fix to this. I'll copy any helpful solutions in the VIA Linux forums as
well.
