VIA chip itself doesn't do the rate conversion. in fact, in the ALSA driver, the rate is "locked" with the firstly-used rate. the problem of 48k is not because of the audio chip itself but usually the bug of BIOS. typically an AWARD BIOS has (had?) this bug. you can use the recent "dxs_support" module option for specifying the behavior of the driver, btw. > > DXS stands for "direct sound."
