If someone wanted to use the USB for multiple simultaneous outputs of /different/ audio streams, what devices are known to be as headache-free as possible?
As in, this is a box expected to output several MP3 streams simultaneously as an in-home jukebox type of device. Most likely no more than 3 stereo streams of typically 192kbps sample rates. This as opposed to the somewhat agonizing adventure of getting two ISAPNP cards to play nicely together. Oh yet, lest ye think this was easy, it's an ancient Dell P2/333 dual processor box running RH9 (but updated with apt-get) on a 2.6.1 kernel (so as to get ax8817x USB ethernet working). At some point it may become necessary to punt and use a new box but hey, if I can recycle old iron then I figure it's worth giving it a try. -Bill Kearney ------------------------------------------------------- The SF.Net email is sponsored by EclipseCon 2004 Premiere Conference on Open Tools Development and Integration See the breadth of Eclipse activity.
