John,

Oddly enough I have another server (with two clients, including
itself) of the same architecture and running the programs from
the crossmounted disks on the server we have been talking about.

This system doesn't exibit the ERROR: Running as user... message
but is giving the secure port error.

laksha 5% /usr/local/sbin/amcheck laksha
Amanda Tape Server Host Check
-----------------------------
WARNING: holding disk /amanda/work: only 87589256 KB free (92160000 KB requested)
NOTE: skipping tape-writable test
Tape LAKSHA02 label ok
NOTE: info dir /amanda/laksha/curinfo: does not exist
NOTE: it will be created on the next run
Server check took 16.566 seconds

Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check
--------------------------------
ERROR: laksha: [host laksha: port 1145 not secure]
ERROR: andaman: [host laksha: port 1145 not secure]
Client check: 2 hosts checked in 0.517 seconds, 2 problems found

(brought to you by Amanda 2.4.2p2)

Again, IRIX 6.5 (6.5.14m actually, for both client and server).

                                                thanks,

                                                Brian
