Why?

One of the major features of Amanda is that it does the scheduling for
you, and performs several types of optimization. Do you have a specific
reason for forcing it into doing things in a rigid manner?

>Is there a way to append incremental backups everyday?

Do you mean append several days worth of incremental backups to a
single tape? Not currently (there are technical reasons you **never**
want to append to tape), but you could let the files accumulate in your
holding disk and then just amflush them once in a while. However, that
puts you at the mercy of the holding disk -- if it dies, your backups
go along with it.

A similiar thing could be said for a single tape with lots of images.
That's another good reason to use just one tape per day. It spreads
out the potential for a problem.
