Yes, but please understand, the maia version of amavisd-new replaces the
original version of amavisd-new.

Nothing, that is the point. I'm simply cautioning you against
upgrading to a different version of amavisd-new. If you were to upgrade
amavisd-new to a new, or even the same version, you would replace the
maia version and your system will no longer be running maia.
