Thanks to all for a very good discussion on the topic of Ami's vision.

Just to add a little color on the side.

When I purchased Ami one year ago I knew in advance that it was the
trading program for me and that it had community and developer
support equal to or beyond anything else around.

Turning that to my advantage was another matter.
There is an incredible amount of support material available but
finding it, understanding it and applying it takes time and patience.

Time is the real issue, especially for those who are working as well
as trading, rather than a lack of support quality or quantity.

IMO Ami didn't need to get any better she just needed to explain
herself more.

My first impression was that Ami was biased to people with good IT
skills, but that could have been prejudice on my part.

In one year Ami has seen a considerable shift in that area IMO.
The integrated Web browser, AFL Wizard and upcoming User's Knowledge
Base are all features orientated to helping sell Ami's virtues.

At least one school teacher has visited Ami in recent times looking
for training software for his computer kids so lets' keep that in
mind. Maybe a future Tomasz will cut his/her teeth in AmiBroker.

People change with time and no doubt Tomasz will be a different
*program leader* in 10 years than what he is now.
AmiBroker will reflect those personal changes.
(Anyone who has raised children who thinks they weren't a different
person at the end of their kid's teenage years please put your hand
up).

I commend Tomasz for embracing change and accepting truths that
weren't part of his make-up a short while ago (once again IMO).

Advanced users will be pleased to know that after a while new users
should gravitate past needing training support and start to walk on
their own two feet.
The speed of progress depends on the users background.

I find I am now starting to read more code *off the page* compared to
what I did in the first six months.
I still prefer a screenshot or two to provide some context but other
than that it does all start to make sense if one perseveres.

I have also found that I am able to use the message board archives
and material at other Ami sites a lot more efficiently than I did at
first.

I have been a persistent supporter of new user features, although I
don't anticipate benefitting from them myself very much.

I wanted them because they seem to fit in and look right (AmiBroker
looked lop-sided), to help those who come behind, for Ami's business
success and Tomasz's artistic (visionary) fulfillment.

However, I also thank the advanced users who are up ahead of us and
set the benchmarks.
I have been introduced to many new computer and trading skills
because of AmiBroker and the AB community.

I don't see the Wizard as dumbing down; it is just a stepping stone
to better things.
I am all for the advanced features and I don't ask the Alpha-techs to
lower their standards.
Just explain them a little and I will come up to where you are and
meet you on your terms.

I also believe that you can only spoon feed people so far and
eventually they have to *use what is already there* as Fred said.

It all comes down to outcomes.

If the new users progress on, it is all worth it.
If they remain stuck at the Wizard for a few years it all becomes a
bit frustrating.
It is a matter of percentages.

It is worth it for the ones who make it through and for those who
don't at least *we* did the right thing.

Here's to I/O, Automated Trading and the ADK etc ; all in the future
for me.

Brian.

P.S. They were metaphorical Roses Jim ;-)
