Yes, this mIRC client is on a network which doesn't allow it to connect at
all to dalnet without communicating through the Socks server (The Akill
kills the mIRC unless it is going through the socks server - it can't do
the identd unless it is communicating through the socks server.
And, yes - there is no way to change the setting so it doesn't have to go
through the socks server - this was a last try to get mIRC to connect at all
to dalnet.
