Hi Steve,

An Astatic D-104 is a very good crystal mike. You can also get
Kobitone crystal mike cartridges from Mouser Electronics
http://www.mouser.com

Check out the Kobitone 25LM024 cartridge (in stock, $4.17 in
single-unit quantities), it has a wide peak around 3 KHz, which is
right where you want it. The datasheet for this cartridge is
available in pdf form from the Mouser site.

The peak at 3 KHz, and the high output into high impedance tube grid
circuits, are good reasons to use this kind of crystal mike. To
really get the low end with a crystal mike, you need a grid resistor
of at least 1 meg, and preferably 10 or 15 megs.
