haha, Jerome, you went a bit harsh on poor Vivia.. but not so poor Vivia
went a bit harsh on poor Jerome.. hehe, ok relax, Jerome you're half
right,b ut I think you shouldn't care too much about it...
it's an "advanced' prefs, so it's for advanced users, so people who won't
complain about thing... we hope so anyways.. we know it's bloated, but
it's like that.. aMSN always aimed for a perfect customization... and we
can't remove options to users, and if we need an option, we have no choice
but to add it.. that's what advanced prefs was created for..
but yes, I do ask that new options be requested on the ML (do you think I
should add **** option) (no vivia, not **** :P lol), of course, if no
answer is giving, the devel is allowed to code the option because he
shouldn't just "wait" for people who will never answer (I suggest the code
to be done, the option to be added in advanced prefs is a one line add...
and waiting for an answer for a week, if no answer is done, ask for
followup on subject, if still no answer after a week, then you add it)
anyways.. we are having a new preferneces dialog project going on (Alvaro
worked on that, don't know if he could complete it or if we need to
reassign), with the new prefs dialog, we'll be fine... so we can have as
many options as we want as long as it's in the advanced tab
btw.. the docking feature option was removed lately and now I have no idea
how to add it.. if it was in advanced prefs, then we would have been
safe.. now, I think even if the variable is set to 0, there is no way to
disable the dock... removing an option is not the way to go.. when we get
the new prefs window, we'll have so many problems to determine all the
options we want, we had/removed, that needs to be there... we could look
at one by one options in the config.tcl file, but there are some options
there that are outdated, I'm sure.. there are 2 options for the traydock
there and none of them work.. and we might confuse mailicon with use_dock,
and use_dock with mailicon...while if we keep in advanced prefs, we'll be
able to keep track of all necessary options along with their description...

As Karel said and as I said in the past, try to avoid adding Advanced
new
features. There's already TOO MUCH options in aMSN and you already
added 2
advanced options in 2 days! If you add something, add it, but don't add
an
advanced features for everything you add in aMSN. There's too much
stuff, if
you want to add something there, remove something else!
First thing: both of those were requested by lots of people on the forums
(and the one about the DP was something i also wanted!) So no way I'm
removing them.
s/no way I'm removing them/I'd really like to keep them/ -> more
diplomatic :P
Second thing: for the trayicon for emails, I just only did what Youness
told me to do. I just forgot to give him credits on the commit because it
was really only his work (sorry Youness!), but any
complaints/thanx/whatever should go to him :)
yes, it was my thing, but no worries, as I already said once, I'm not
looking for credits on my work, so no sorries, but about complains, yes,
goes to me, and my answer is above... + that option was requested many
times... I think I explained that in my previous mail..
Third thing: Yes some options will have to go away, just, I don't want to
take responsibility for removing any of them. You suggested it, you do
it!
:)
should be reviewed once the new prefs window is done I think... there are
way too many options.. there are also many options lacking.. we should
add/remove/separate.. separate means have them into a simple plugin... for
now I really suggest we keep everything...
just my 2 cents..
