I would differ with you here. XHTML, being a subset of XML, is naturally
not as rich as XML. In addition, I don't think you'd want the XHTML to
contain the layout data, wouldn't you use CSS for this?

I really love the idea of an XML output option. That would allow the
capability to produce standard Analog output, import the data into a
database, etc, produce SVG charts through XSLT, etc.
