Everything I've seen says the Google folks are pretty decent stewards
- I think that is a part of their hiring criteria.

Yes, they are human. Yes they have agendas, but those agendas are
generally lined up with Google's interests.

I am mostly jonesing for the new SDK and all that goes with it. Mostly
more effecient coding for those vast masses no longer involved in the
Android Challenge.  When was the last relase?  2 months ago?

Please consider the best interests of those no longer in challenge:
New SDK please?
