How does a company shut down NOAA? I am not sure I understand correctly. Yes it's very hard to compete against a company with multi-million dollar marketing budget. I also agree with Shane's points. If you have a different twist or geared toward a niche market, you might pull it off.
I am creating an app which will be available as a free download and I hope it will spread by words of month. I have zero marketing budget. I don't know if it will succeed but I am going to give it a shot. Don't give up if you have a truly innovative product idea.
