Fortunately, I at least try to do more than that....

You mean things like announcements in appropriate forums, web pages,
Facebook, both of my web pages, etc.? Clearly that's not enough, but
not having ANY knowledge of marketing (I got my degree in engineering,
not business ... ask me to design a highly-survivable network under a
given budget with specified requirements for data, voice, and future
upgrades, I can do that in my sleep ... in fact, I have solved some
networking issues in dreams before...wake up, put it in the simulator
I wrote back then, and sure enough, it increased survivability and
lowered cost all at the same time[1] ... ask me to do marketing, and
I'm utterly clueless).

Ok, here's something I've been wondering...every time I upload a new
app, to be exact.... When you're asked whether or not to use ads to
advertise your app, is there a typical cost associated with that?
Are we talking a dollar or less, or as much as hundreds of dollars,
or somewhere in-between? And how effective are those likely to be?
And do they refer users to the online listing, or to the market link?
And even more general: how do they work, who creates the ads, etc.?

If you honestly think that's what I believe (it isn't, btw...I do have
at least some functionality left in my brain that the surgeries, chemo,
and radiation didn't destroy, and I started off, before all of that,
on a very high level[2], so...), then I seriously doubt I'll get a
response to anything here.
Anyways, this post is getting way too long already.

[1] The explanation I've been given for that is the fact that, when
you dream, your mind is more open to ideas that would be suppressed
or ignored when awake. But that's another topic for a very, very
different forum....so that's the last I'll say on that here.
[2] Not that it matters, but 153+ (the test only went to 153)...took a
sample Mensa test, but was bored by it and didn't pursue it any
further. I'm not an idiot, though I'm some here may think I am,
based on my beginner-level questions (but then, I AM a beginner
here). :-)
