Google isn't peddling stolen goods, it's providing a link to stolen
goods. However, you should note that Google frequently *does* take
down images when they get complaints. And many of the images you see
linked *are* in violation of copyright.

If you sold and made money off of them, you should consider yourself
lucky you didn't get sued (while this sounds like it would never
happen to a small developer, consider the hundreds of developers who
are now getting Lodsys letters) and create a new account. I'm sure
that if you fought hard enough, removed all apps in violation, and
started over, you could probably get your account reinstated. However
I feel like the work it would take for this to happen just wouldn't be
worth the time you'd have to put into it..

Also, asking for legal advice on a public list isn't all that
productive, even if you know the law exactly (and in this case, I'm
certain you violated some DMCA copyright laws, the fact that google
links to copyrighted images is no excuse, you can't steal a car just
because Google stole mine last week), you'll still need a lawyer to
take action on your behalf.

And to be honest, hiring a lawyer is probably (for you) going to be
much more expensive than just cutting your losses and starting over
with a new account..
