Though this is only somewhat relevant.... I wonder if the act of it
being open source -- could make some things illegal in the uk?

I believe I read somewhere that having applications/devices/programs
that gives you the ability to change the IMEI number of a phone is
illegal. Opposed to the US where it is only illegal to actually change
this number...

As for is it illegal to root your phone... I'd say it falls into
fairuse -- but I'm no lawyer at all :)
