{ Guys, before we go overboard, but Android is a special purpose
framework for mobiles. Not exactly what one would want to have on a
laptop.}

Oh yes it is  :-)

{ Hint: you cannot do wordprocessing with Android, the browser
does not support adblocking, no general purpose editors, no development
tools, and so on. }

I'll use my workstation for that kind of stuff :-) Except for add
blocking. I run squid with an add blocker for blocking adds :-)

{ Hint: the above is so constraining that some people put Debian onto a
SD card so that they can have all the missing parts on their mobile. }

I'm looking at it from a "play thing" perspective. I want it to be an:

Android picture frame
Android system monitor
Android XBMC controller ( same as I have on my G1 :-) )
Android Business suite ( to run all my own business apps )
Android kitchen appliance
Android Home Automation controller ( lighting and heating )
Android Phone ( VOIP connected to Asterisk ) ( probably rooted ofcourse
:-)  )
Android media center ( Mostly for streaming radio. Pausing streaming
radio when a call comes in is sooo convenient )
Android security controller / display
Android Email ( POP3 / IMAP )
Android Browsing

The biggest plus about the Android framework is its compact and designed
to be small. No bloat-ware. Minimalistic, fast and smooth would work
for me  :-)

Seems most manufacturers are playing with an Android build of some sorts
so it may be on Netbooks sooner rather than later :-)
