As long as there is enough memory and disk space for all of this, it works fine. You will need lots of them to be comfortable when building the platform anyway, be it on a dedicated or virtual machine. > 3) Compilation under windows is possible. Making this possible is a *huge* task that nobody in the Android team is going to tackle. There are countless better uses of our time. Moreover, compilation can be only performed on Cygwin which is about 3x to 10x slower than native compilation (for a variety of reasons you really don't want to know, but which any Cygwin user that builds non trivial sources suffers from).
