Looks to me Chrome OS is a continuation of the web-app-only story with
HTML 5, AJAX and Gears intended as the main drivers. The platform
might not even allow for a single native app outside the OEM/Google
provided web browser, and some system management perhaps. Browser
plugins not supported either.
This might be a good platform to fork and build UIs for embedded
systems used in high end, connected appliances and the like. No need
there to find agreement over the codec of <video>, for instance.
