Wow, you really need to stop talking to those reps.  I've had a G1
since about day 1 and at my work where we deal with amplified RF
signals in the lab, I rarely have a signal, but I still get my home
screen and can use all my apps as long as they don't require data
access.  Next time you talk to that rep, tell them that they are full
of s-h-i-t.
