It's not so much as working for free, it's the user experience I'm really referring to. If the users who are really annoyed by ads concentrate solely on that aspect of my app, then everyone loses out. The users are getting a poorer experience, I'm getting lousy ratings and nasty comments and the ads aren't generating any revenue from those people. Even if earnings were by impressions, the earnings wouldn't be worth the annoyance factor. The percentage is really less than 4% at 3.8%. Not a hill of beans. Back in the old days, Google used to say "Don't be evil." I took that idea to heart and think forcing people to see ads just so I can make a very small percentage extra is in a way, evil. Google may have moved past that idea but I still think that way. Also, giving the users a way to opt out of ads builds loyalty. Interestingly enough I haven't had any nasty responses for my Ads. > You're lucky, your app may be the greatest thing since (digitally) sliced bread or you just don't have enough users yet to get the hate mail. It could be the extremely large user base allows me to be privy to the worst nut cases. One thing I didn't mention. The opt-out only lasts for 30 days. After that, the banners start appearing again. A user can opt-out as many times as they want. If a user opted out at first, then found the app to be very useful, they might just let them run. -John Coryat -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
