Also, I've changed a local copy of psplash to do this on my Zaurus 3200

I might lower the graphic a bit since Ångström doesn't seem to use
psplash to write messages (which it can do above the progressbar). Does
it ever?
This is nice and all for my own Z, but if one wants to give every
Ångström machine the advantage of a graphic suitable for its own display
size (may go as low as 160x160), what would be the best approach? This
is what I can think of:
* Include 3 or so different sizes of the boot logo in psplash:
- increases psplash size.
+ easiest approach, patching psplash to consider the
framebuffer size is simple.
* Render a scalable vector graphic:
- overhead for Cairo.
+ Cairo already installed on x11-image.
Keep in mind that psplash should also work for non-X images (ie Console and
Opie)
* Different psplash package for different display sizes:
- is this even possible or desirable?
IIRC, the different machine configs can specify either hi-res or lo-res
displays, so this should be possible
+ no overhead or size increase of psplash on the device
I'm interested to hear your thought on this and the design itself.
Kind regards,
Jeroen Hoek
