I used to have a poodle before Angstrom was available (since sold), so I know some of the pain your going through :). I would think that altboot might be your answer: http://www.linuxtogo.org/gowiki/AngstromAltboot but as for issues with Angstrom running on a poodle, I'm afraid that I can't help you there.
