Maxim,
if you think the 2.6.30 kernel on linux4sam is outdated and like brand
new shiny things, I suggest you build your own kernel with the toolchain
I mentioned below, this is the best way for you to have the latest kernel.
You are right telling that 2.6.30 is outdated *but* this revision has
been intensively tested and integrates patches that have not yet
completed their mainline integration process (ISI for instance).
However as you say, "nearly comprehensive" AT91SAM9263 support has been
integrated in mainline Linux for a long time...
I said : in my opinion, 2.6.30 is not outdated, I agree with you
Nicolas, it has proved it's stability and I bet 95% of the usages don't
need the most recent features included in the kernel...
PS: don't tell anybody the at91sam9263 is at least 4 years old, the
ARM926 core is outdated, you should consider switching to an ARM Cortex
A8. It is like comparing a steam machine and an explosion engine... :)
Hey, not everybody has the same needs...
ARM926 is not outdated it is old like a good old whiskey and very lively.
This was a little joke to be read along Maxim's message comparing the
linux4sam packages with angstrom distro. The underlying message was
yours : you can't tell out of context.
